Første testkjøring mot Kalle med Chosen lista. Ganske tøff motstand med Von Karnstein Zombie Drage. Mistanken min om at jeg sliter med å håndtere store monster blir i stor grad bekreftet.

Jeg stilte med følgende:

Sorceror of Change on Disc, General, Wizard Master, 4 Learned Spells, Path of Shamanism, Lucky Shield, Book of Arcane Power, Talisman of Greater Shielding, Third Eye of Change, 825p
Harbinger of True Chaos, BSB, Halberd, Lucky Charm, Nine-Tailed Standard, Waste Hardened Skin, 440p
14 Wasteland Warriors of Pestilence, FCG, GW, Warbanner, 554p
2x 5 Fallen of Wrath, 180p
2x Battleshrine of True Chaos, 240p
2x 5 Barbarian Horsemen of Lust, Hellriders, Hellish Whip, Shield, 200p
4x 10 Chosen of Wrath, Musician, Halberd, 360p
Total: 4499p

Kalle hadde følgende:

Vampire Lord, Von Karnstein, Blade of Red thirst, Divine Icon, Luckhy Charm, Storm Caller, General riding a Colossal Zombie Dragon. 1185
Necro w. wand 200
Necro w. scroll 260
* Alle karakterene hadde 1 spell fra evocation

10. Ghouls 130 x 2
10. Ghouls w. champ 150
20. Zombies w. muso 130 x 4
Altar of Undeath w. dark tome 460
Altar of Undeath 400
7. Wraiths 252
5. Wraiths 180
4. Winged Reapers w adhd

Jeg ruller opp Awaken the Beast, Savage Fury, Pounding Drumbeat, Break the Spirit.

Deployment
Bilde

He choose side. I start deployment. We trade drops, he drops everything when it guarantees him first turn. I put DP on the reaper/dragon side to hopefully put some wounds on them with magic.

He choose 2x Chosen and Warriors for scoring, marked by stars. I choose 2x Zombies and Skeletons. Should have taken the 3 lower units when I look back at it.

Fallen beasts ambush, though I forget them completely until the end of the battle….

- He pushed up with dragon and reapers, leaving me with quite a simple charge.
- Magic: 3-2. I dispel Touch of the Reaper on my DP.

END GAME
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion:

I’ve lost scenario, mainly due to poor choices when it came down to which unit I selected initially.
I’ve lost 3000p including General and BSB while I’ve taken 2440p. This totals out to a 5-15 loss for my part.

- I lost 3p from objective simply by picking wrong units. I should have selected the bottom three.
- After I killed the Altars, the DP should have reformed to look at the Necromancers and wiped them out one at a time and waited for support form Chosen in the flank.
- Uncertain about the T1 charge with the DP. This rendered my magic dmg useless for 3 magic phases, which was critical to any chance of killing the Dragon. Pretty sure I played the DP with S5 two combat rounds as well, which should have meant Reapers should have dies earlier.
- Forgetting both my Fallen Beasts for the entire game could possibly also have saved me the objective by getting them in on T2-3.
- If I had done this DP would have survived the game and objective would have been draw with a final result of 11-12p to me instead.

I’m quite satisfied with the DP, but not overly impressed by magic this game either. My fault rendering dmg spells useless when I get 12 PD though.

Chosen with PW works really good against T3! Halberds would have done little difference this game.

Still a bit unsure if 2x combat lords would be better totally. That would get me some serious monster handling capabilities with Jacks and Ogre Blade/Burning Blade of Chaos.

2x Grudge Buster, 370p
2x 10 Miners, Pistols 230

Total: 4497p

Deployment
Bilde

He choose side. I start deployment and drop my entire army. I’ve got a large water fucking up my deployment, but decided that I can live with the main block being delayed as long as I got range with Nine-Tailed and that is 12”.

Kalle drops the army quite defensive, obviously, with flyers out on the flanks.

Fallen beasts ambush, this time I remembered them at least!

T1:
WDG:

- I push forward with everything, I need to close the gap asap to take as little casualties as possible from shooting before I get into combat.
- Magic: 8-4: I roll 3 dice and get though Quicksilver lash on the upper Grudge buster. Kalle pops scroll to Devour it, as expected. The spell doesn’t do anything against the GB and nothing happends to me during the miscast.
- With the remainig dice I cast the Silver Spike, alch 3, on the same GB, failing to wound on 3+ after Kalle fails to dispel.

Bilde

DH:

- Kalle shuffles around a little bit, not much moves around at all except flyers.
- First cannon miss the DP, 2nd cannon hits, wounds, I fail Ward and the DP Is dead. Great, down 1100p I T1….
- I’ve overlooked the fact that models with Towering Presence doesn’t get a bonus from the altar against shooting, crap.
- 4 Copters do 1W against the Battleshrine
- Forge Wardens do 1W vs Chosen
- Grudge buster does 2W vs Chosen

Bilde

T2:

WDG

- I keep pushing, need to keep my feet going when I’m without the DP already.
- Fallen beasts both get on the table, threatening both the Cannons in a sweet spot OLOS of all Dwarves around.
- I’m actually quite comfortable as the Dwarves have no-where to run soon.
- Magic: 4-3. BTS is dispelled on the upper buster and the lower shrine fails to cast due to Dwarven anti magic, -1 to cast

Bilde

DH

- A unit of miners enter play, threatening the flank of my lower Shrine.
- Greybeards turn around to face Fallen beasts. From the pictures I’m pretty sure they did a Swift Reform without a musician and contributed illegally to kill the Fallen beasts with Throwing Weapons
- GB that did a reform did 3W on the lower Fallen beast.
- 1. Cannon and Engineers kill the upper Fallen beast.
- 2. Cannon misfires aiming at my Battleshrine and takes a wound.
- Copters does 0W with Rock on the shrine but 1W with shooting.
- Miners do 0W against the Shrine with shooting
- FW does 0W against Chosen with shooting
- Grudge Buster does 2W against Fallen with shooting.

Bilde

T3:

WDG

- Chosen charge FW, they SnS.
- 2nd Chosen charge FW, they flee, far.
- Lower Fallen charge FW pushing them off the table, panic the Cannon and panic 10 Greybeards which run off the table. We forgot the re-roll failed panic rule on the Greybeards.
- Upper fallen Fails charge into the cannon
- Upper chosen fails charge into the Grudge Buster.
- Rest of the army keep pushing to support.
- Nothing happends in magic.

UPS, forgot picture

DH

- Copters drops bombs on Shrine doing 1W
- Miners enter play
- Cannon does 2W, killing the upper altar as I can’t roll 4++ in this game…
- Copters do 2+2W against upper Chosen
- Greybeards do 1W vs upper Fallen
- Grudge Buster do 2W against the lower fallen
- Grudge Buster do 0W against the upper fallen

Bilde

T4:

WDG

- Upper chosen charges Grudge Buster, 1 model dies to SnS, 1 dude left alive.
- Single Fallen charge cannon and get in
- Upper middle chosen charge Greybeards, lining up a overrun into the next unit taking 1W from SnS.
- Fallen charge the next unit, to hopefully get 2 combat rounds with the Chosen, they fail.
- Lower middle Chosen charge greybeards chaffing them taking 1W on SnS.
- Lower Chosen turn around to take care of miners
- Shrine turn around to face incoming miners.
- Warriors and BSB block push forward since they got out of the water last turn.
- Magic: 8-5: BTS goes off on Greybeards chaffing Chosen with Overwhelming power and loses me the spell.
- Combat: Grudge Buster takes 1W from the lone Chosen before killing him.
- Fallen kills off the cannon and overruns off the table.
- Lower middle chosen only do 4W against thei chaffing Greybeards… They take 2W in return and break the GB running them down. Unfortunately exposing their flank to a Grudge Buster.
- Upper chosen does 4W with the 24 attacks on 2+/4+… Great day for a dice game! They break the Greybeards, run them down and into the flank of the next Greybeards unit.

Bilde

DH

- Miners charge into the lower Shrine
- Grudge Buster charge into the flank of the exposed chosen unit
- Copters do 1 + 2 W against the fallen with shooting
- Copter do 1W with Bombs on the Warriors
- Cannon does 1W against the Warriors, into their flank.
- Grudge Buster do 2W against Chosen, breaking them, catching them and overrunning into the rear of the Chosen unit lined up to take care of the miners
- Miners do 3W against battlershrine, suffering 2W in return. Shrine holds.
- Chosen break Greybeards and send them running off the table.

UPS, forgot picture

T5:

WDG:

- Warriors charge the flank of Grudge Buster engaged in the rear of the Chosen
- Chosen turn around moving to get back to the objective
- Grudge does 1W with Impact hits on the Chosen before it is killed by the Harbinger and Warriors. They turn around to get back to the objective to draw it atleast.
- Miners finish of the Shrine.

Bilde

DH

- Copter move up to chaff the block, but forget chaffing the Chosen with the other copters.
- Shooters shuffle around
- Engineer kills the remaining fallen that just came onto the table.
- Miners do 1W against lower chosen with shooting

Bilde

T6:

WDG:

- I’m just blocked off from charging the harbinger out of the unit and into the flank of the miners running for the scenario. I decide that a 6+ charge with the chosen and a following 5” ish overrun will get me the exact same result and also win me the objective. Chosen fail their 6+ charge ofc…
- Copter do 2W on SnS against the block..
- Lower Chosen charge miners to clear them out
- Lower Chosen do 9W vs miners and suffer 1W in return, this was more statistically correct! Both units run of the table.
- Harbinger and warriors only do 4W against the copters, break them but can’t run them down getting me nothing… with the miners passing the panic test.

Bilde

DH:

- Miners run to win the objective
- Engineers shuffles closer to depleted chosen unit.
- Engineers do 0 + 2W against Chosen unit.
- HC does 1W vs Warriors
- Grudge Buster do 0W against Chosen, I’m left with 3 models not giving away any VPs.

Bilde

END GAME
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion:

I’ve lost scenario mainly due to the chosen guys unable to do a 6+ charge in my T6. Not quite sure if the T5 charge with the Warriors into the Buster was a wise chose either regarding scenario and final result.

I’ve lost 3200p including General while I’ve taken 2300p. This totals out to a 4-16 loss for my part.

- Losing the DP in T1 is a major problem. I basically played 3400p vs 4500p in 5/6 turns. Not much I could have changed as there was nothing to hide behind either with my quite short range spells requiring LoS.
- The face that I couldn’t roll a single 4++ most of the game was an issue, but this is a dice game after all. Totally this was a spike down dice wise looking at poor saved and poor results from Chosen in combat which should have wiped the floor with anything they contacted of infantry.
- I lost 3p from objective. Had the Chosen got in I would most likely have won the objective resulting in a 10-10 result instead
- I pushed hard, but was a bit on lockdown with the warrior block unable to march the first 2 turns of the game. I do believe this was the right chose as opposed to splitting up my army even more giving Kalle room to focus on single units with shooting.
- The FW running off the table was huge. When they never could shoot on short range, they are quite uneffective.

This game proved that the list can perform just as good without magic from a caster. I will run a 2-3 Demonic Steed characters in my next iteration, relying on BTS from Battleshrines and Ring of Fire for my 3 spells. These characters will benefit from the Hard Target, they are not Towering Presence ref. cannon shooting and they are just as good or better fighters as the DP at half the price tag.

I’m also considering running Chosen of Lust with Halberds just to have the lovely M7 to rush my opponents.

Deployment
Bilde

I pick side and choose the large center. We trade a few drops before he drops his entire army to go first. I’m quite pleased as I can do whatever I want and I got the shrines free to ensure hard cover to everything I need. I do mistake putting the right LoW, the one with bluffers too far behind.
I also misunderstand what cav he had and didn’t really thing to ask, assuming they were glade riders and not wild riders as they are.

He picks my three chosen units for scoring and I pick his 3 archer units.

T1:

He moves a bit forward, turn the left archers on the heel and runs away from my Lord.
My T1 I push up quite hard, still thinking that I can easily take glade riders in the flank of my chosen unit, which is true, but the unit being wild riders are completely different!
I set up the fallen so he can get them with Rangers, overrun into a chosen unit and expose their flank to my warriors block. I didn’t ever hope he would actually take the bait!

T2:

Tommy takes the bait, charging the Forest Rangers into the Fallen and eventually overrunning into the chosen, lining up a perfect flank charge for my warriors! At this point I’m pretty confident this will end well, this move lost him the game.
He also charges the Wild Huntsmen into the chosen, kick their ass only taking 1W back. They fail to overrun into anything.

In my T2 the warriors charge the obvious flank of the Rangers. Blade dancers are too far away to represent any threat and also on lockdown from a LoW. After Combat I break the Rangers and run them down almost overrunning into the Wild Huntsmen which are chaffed by the Bluffer Lord.
Right archer unit is also hunted by the last chosen block for an inevitable engagement.

T3:

They SE army are in an uphill battle, rangers gone, 1 archer block running away, Blade Dancers OLoS and Huntsmen Chaffed by Bluffer Lord. He has no real options than to try and setup something for late game and avoid my LoS for the coming turn.

My T3 the left battleshrine march off against the archers running away, the Jack’s Lord chase after the archer block with the Druid located in the center of his deployment and the rest of my army setup a counter charge against the blade dancers and Wild Huntsmen.

The Chosen unit also charge the archers and kill them on the spot.

T4:
The SE keep dancing around me catch the warriors with the Blade Dancers and the Wild Huntsmen at the same time.

The Jack’s Lord rear charge the archers with the Druid in, sealing their fate. My Warriors being boxed in, having to use a shrine to chaff Wild Huntsmen and setting up a potential charge against the dancers with the Bluffer Lord. The archers hold on steadfast after miserable rolling by the Jack’s Lord in combat, preventing an overrun into the rear of the Blade Dancer unit.
The Battleshrine charge the left archers, I assume it has enough time to break them before the game ends.

T5:
I’ve overlooked that the Blade Dancer Lord is on the corner of the unit and can charge out of the unit and into the Warriors. The Wild Huntsmen charge the chaffing Battlshrine, actually breaking it and overrunning into the rear of the Warrior. This turns out really ugly on my part and waste a 2nd opportunity to chaff the riders. I was dead certain they would never break them shrine and that the shrine should do something in return before dieing… The result is a depleted Warrior block, no more Wild huntsmen alive and I hold on a lucky breaktest.

The Jacks’ Lord break the archers with Druid inside and run them down

In my T5 both Lords charge into the Blade Dancers, which are outside a forest currently and perfect target at the moment. In combat the Blade Dancer Lord kills my BSB in a duel but the Warriors hold on steadfast. The blade dancers are stupidly resilient with the 3++ and hold for a turn.

T6:
No real options for the SE than to run and hide having lost all their scoring units and only taken two of mine.

My T6 the Lords wipe out the Blade Dancer unit and run them down.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion:

I’ve won scenario and I’m up on points which totals out a 17-3 win on my part.

- A stupid start with misunderstanding which cav he had almost cost me the game very early.
- I barely used the Lords of Wrath, they should have been in combat T2 as there are basically nothing in his army they fear except the Blade Dancer Lord with I8 and S7.
- Getting 2nd turn didn’t really matter as I then got to place everything within the Battleshrine bubbles resulting in almost no casualties to shooting.
- The T2 flank charge on the Forest Rangers was the game breaking move.

I’m quite pleased with the new chosen build with MoL, sweet free reform, M7 with banner and Halberds. The missing magic didn’t really matter to be honest.

It was a fun game and Tommy and me got along very good, hope we’ll meet again some day!

Next up is Korpacz with VC of Nosferatu which claimed he would do more resistance!

Deployment

He wins the roll off for picking side and I make him start deployment. Quite early he drops the Barrow Guards and I’m all free the put the last scoring unit at the upper position and also send the Jack’s Lord that direction. I drop the rest and want to be player 2. My goal is to jam that bluffer Lord into the BG and take out his general asap.

T1:

He moves forward with shrieking horror, winged reapers and his Barrow Guard. forward, turn the left archers on the heel and runs away from my Lord. He has positioned him just short of having range on any spells basically, so I get off easy on the dmg spells in T1. Horror kills of a few Fallen in the lower unit.

In my T1 I advance up rigging for T2 charges. I shuffle away from the Horror not to expose the flank of anything significant to it. Not much else happends.

T2:

His army shuffles around, I guess he wants to get as much out of his magic as possible before engaging. I couldn’t really do anything with his BG, without exposing their flank to the Bluffer Lord.
He summons a unit of Zombies to chaff the Bluffer Lord. He also chaffs upper chosen and Jack’s Lord with each their Wolf unit.

In my T2 I charge. He has traffic jammed himself pretty badly so I can control what happends afterwards with overruns and the following turns. Lords go into wolves and zombies repectively, Chosen3 go into dogs and Chosen1 go into skeletons. Central fallen move up to chaff Winged Reapers from flank charging Bluffer Lord. Wolves are easily cleaned up, Chosen kill a few skeletons, Bluffer Lord fluffs and a few zombies remain alive.

T3:

Winged Reaper charge the Fallen in their front, as nothing can counter them. Horror is outside general march range but barely manage to get within screaming range of Chosen2. I stop any magic trying to buff the zombies that are engaged with my Bluffer Lord, but fail to dispel Touch of the Reaper doing 2W to my BSB. The Bluffer Lord clears out the zombies.

In my T3 the Lord and the Chosen1 charge and wipe the Zombies. The Bluffer Lord charges the Barrow Guards. Fallen2 move up to protect the flank of the Bluffer Lord from the Winged Reapers.
The one model left in Chosen2 charge the Horror just to try and lock it down for a turn, but obviously fail to do so. He does 1W to the Horror though. The Jack’s Lord charge a summoned unit of Zombies and I hope they hold until his turn is over and I can take out the Horror. A Battleshrine charge the Horror, fails miserably and he is free to move in his turn.

T4:
This turn is a grind out basically, I keep killing his champion and he keeps summoning it back. Chosen1 slowly grind down the skeletons, but I keep rolling only 10 attacks with them and not 15 as I should… The Jack’s Lord wipes the Zombies and reform to charge the Horror. He keeps refusing a challenge with his Vampire, so I strike his Winged Reapers and do 4W intead. I hold on a lucky ld6 break test, sealing the fate of the Reapers.

In my T4 the Jack’s Lord charges and kills of the Horror, the Bluffer Lord does another 4W to the Winged Reapers and Chosen1 kill off a summoned zombie unit to protect the flank of his skellies. My Warriors are finally in combat against a skeleton and he reforms his skellies to horde formation.

T5:
The Vampire Lord finally accepts the challenge, suffering 2W as a result. The rest is a grind.

In my T5 the Battleshrine charge the rear of the Winged Reapers alongside the Jacks’ Lord, cleaning them out completely. BG Crumble 10W or so, starting to go down now.

T6:
Korpacs throws in the towel. Skellies will be wiped anytime now, BG are grind down by the Lords and the only this he has left is a Zombie bunker and his Necromancer basically.

END GAME
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion:

I’ve won scenario and I’m up on points which totals out a 20-0 win on my part.

- Pretty pleased with this game and how the list works
- Jack’s is the nemesis of Monsters
- Bluffer’s Helm is stupidly broken in this game. Coupled with Soul Reaper the Bluffer Lord was unkillable basically.
- The Fallen won me this game, denying Winged Reaper into the flank of the Bluffer Lord early game. As we saw later in the game, I could just have taken it. If Korpacz had accepted the challenge the round he got the Reapers in my rear, this game would have ended very differently.
- The lack of magic didn’t bother me this turn either, feels good to have combat lords instead.

Digg med rapporter. Men tror du stod ganske greit i begge kampene.
