Første testkjøring mot Kalle med Chosen lista. Ganske tøff motstand med Von Karnstein Zombie Drage. Mistanken min om at jeg sliter med å håndtere store monster blir i stor grad bekreftet.

Jeg ruller opp Awaken the Beast, Savage Fury, Pounding Drumbeat, Break the Spirit. Ikke helt håpløst, får forsåvidt det viktigste i mine øyne, men ingen summon. Skulle gjerne hatt Swarm of Insects mot wraiths!

Vi rulle Secure Target med Diagonal deployment. Jeg plukker hjørnet som gjør at Kalle må splitte hæren sin for å komme rundt impassable i midten, noe som viste seg lite taktisk etterhvert.

Tidlig i gamet har jeg en ganske easy charge med HB chosen i front på dragen, tar det. Tenker ikke på at han har distracting, helt min egen feil etter å ikke ha sjekket info på dragen. Jeg var også helt sikker på at regen fra altere ikke kunne buffe large targets, å da skulle chosen i snitt ta 3-4W av dragen, noe som ville vært en meget bra start.

Ruller vel en ok magi fase, men begynner med å feile å kaste BTS fra et mage med 2 terninger. Det er egentlig spikern i kista for å få igjennom noe mot dragen denne runden ettersom kalle nå har flere DD enn jeg har PD igjen. Dette betyr også slutten på chosen og den ene flanken min allerede i T2.

Fra dette punktene er det kun å prøve å berge stumpene egentlig. Jeg gjør noe feil i et forsøk på å sette opp noen charges som Kalle kan ta for å ende ugunstig plassert i ettertid for hans del uten videre hell. Når han utnytter den chosen blokka som står ubeskyttet og pest blokka med BSB flykter nærmere Kalles reapers gidder jeg ikke dette lenger når kl er 23 allerede. Før core blokka stakk av estimerte jeg 16p til Kalle, når de flykta så er det nok 18-20p et sted.

Oppsummering:

Allerede før slaget begynte savnet jeg Alchemy, Ring of Fire, Flamme Banner eller en Combat Chaos Lord. Jeg har ingen magic attacks i lista og har effektivt ingen svar på hverken wraiths eller dragen.

Jeg har kun meg sjøl å takke for at de endte som det gjorde til slutt, men hadde i hvertfall 2 kritisk magic phaser der jeg kun sitter med 1PD mer enn Kalle har DD og feiler kasting tidlig i fasen.

Jeg tror nok jeg burde pushet mye hardere, med unntak av dragen er resten av hæren til kalle håndterbart i CC. Burde brukt Hellriders til å blokke rear charges og sørge for å hold dragen stupid fremfor noe annet egentlig.

Mistanken om at lista slite med monster av typen drage, scourge, vermin demon er bekreftet. Jeg kommer nok til å gjøre om en del. BoAP blir nok byttet i EoFM med Alchemy/Shamanism bla. og RoF skal inn. Dette er gitt at Sorc Lord i det hele tatt skal være med videre. Synes jeg fikk dårlig utbytte av de 825p i denne kampen i hvertfall. I denne matchupen hadde jeg hatt langt bedre utbytte av en monster hunter disc lord med BBoC og PoS evt. en Wrath Cowboy.

Nå må jeg fikle litt i AB, så skal det bli ny kamp i kveld håper jeg. Beklager dårlig report, fra og med neste skal det bli bilder og good stuff igjen, men måtte få feeling med UB2 først ;)

He choose side. I start deployment. We trade drops, he drops everything when it guarantees him first turn. I put DP on the reaper/dragon side to hopefully put some wounds on them with magic.

He choose 2x Chosen and Warriors for scoring, marked by stars. I choose 2x Zombies and Skeletons. Should have taken the 3 lower units when I look back at it.

Fallen beasts ambush, though I forget them completely until the end of the battle….

- Magic: 3-2. I dispel Touch of the Reaper on my DP.

- I take the easy charge on Reapers with DP. I wasn’t thinking about the fact that my 2 magic missiles where now useless for a few rounds. One of my best tools against the dragon… I pass all DTs for water.
- I seriously consider charging the fallen into the bat swarms, but decide to castle up and plan for a surrounding of the Dragon with DP, fallen, warriors and Chosen.
- I march most of my army outside the view of the Dragon.
- I make sure shrines are within BTS range of the Dragon.
- Magic: 12-7. Problem, I have too many dice compared to spells I currently can cast.
- I get off BTS from a shrine on the Dragon
- Boosted Word of Iron on Chosen without Fallen in front.
- He dispels Glory of Gold on DP
- Combat: DP does 4W to Reapers, Reapers do 1W in return. 4 more crumbles.

- DP does 2W on Reapers, they do 1W in return, 1 W crumbles. Keep forgetting Hellfire wounds.
- Fallen fluffs spectacularly, with 15 attacks on 4+ they hit with 3 and kill 1 skeleton. Skellies does 0W in return but win on static. Fallen break but get away, almost blocking my own Warriors.

END GAME

Conclusion:

I’ve lost scenario, mainly due to poor choices when it came down to which unit I selected initially.
I’ve lost 3000p including General and BSB while I’ve taken 2440p. This totals out to a 5-15 loss for my part.

- I lost 3p from objective simply by picking wrong units. I should have selected the bottom three.
- After I killed the Altars, the DP should have reformed to look at the Necromancers and wiped them out one at a time and waited for support form Chosen in the flank.
- Uncertain about the T1 charge with the DP. This rendered my magic dmg useless for 3 magic phases, which was critical to any chance of killing the Dragon. Pretty sure I played the DP with S5 two combat rounds as well, which should have meant Reapers should have dies earlier.
- Forgetting both my Fallen Beasts for the entire game could possibly also have saved me the objective by getting them in on T2-3.
- If I had done this DP would have survived the game and objective would have been draw with a final result of 11-12p to me instead.

I’m quite satisfied with the DP, but not overly impressed by magic this game either. My fault rendering dmg spells useless when I get 12 PD though.

Chosen with PW works really good against T3! Halberds would have done little difference this game.

Still a bit unsure if 2x combat lords would be better totally. That would get me some serious monster handling capabilities with Jacks and Ogre Blade/Burning Blade of Chaos.

He choose side. I start deployment and drop my entire army. I’ve got a large water fucking up my deployment, but decided that I can live with the main block being delayed as long as I got range with Nine-Tailed and that is 12”.

Kalle drops the army quite defensive, obviously, with flyers out on the flanks.

Fallen beasts ambush, this time I remembered them at least!

T1:
WDG:

- I push forward with everything, I need to close the gap asap to take as little casualties as possible from shooting before I get into combat.
- Magic: 8-4: I roll 3 dice and get though Quicksilver lash on the upper Grudge buster. Kalle pops scroll to Devour it, as expected. The spell doesn’t do anything against the GB and nothing happends to me during the miscast.
- With the remainig dice I cast the Silver Spike, alch 3, on the same GB, failing to wound on 3+ after Kalle fails to dispel.

- Kalle shuffles around a little bit, not much moves around at all except flyers.
- First cannon miss the DP, 2nd cannon hits, wounds, I fail Ward and the DP Is dead. Great, down 1100p I T1….
- I’ve overlooked the fact that models with Towering Presence doesn’t get a bonus from the altar against shooting, crap.
- 4 Copters do 1W against the Battleshrine
- Forge Wardens do 1W vs Chosen
- Grudge buster does 2W vs Chosen

- I keep pushing, need to keep my feet going when I’m without the DP already.
- Fallen beasts both get on the table, threatening both the Cannons in a sweet spot OLOS of all Dwarves around.
- I’m actually quite comfortable as the Dwarves have no-where to run soon.
- Magic: 4-3. BTS is dispelled on the upper buster and the lower shrine fails to cast due to Dwarven anti magic, -1 to cast

- A unit of miners enter play, threatening the flank of my lower Shrine.
- Greybeards turn around to face Fallen beasts. From the pictures I’m pretty sure they did a Swift Reform without a musician and contributed illegally to kill the Fallen beasts with Throwing Weapons
- GB that did a reform did 3W on the lower Fallen beast.
- 1. Cannon and Engineers kill the upper Fallen beast.
- 2. Cannon misfires aiming at my Battleshrine and takes a wound.
- Copters does 0W with Rock on the shrine but 1W with shooting.
- Miners do 0W against the Shrine with shooting
- FW does 0W against Chosen with shooting
- Grudge Buster does 2W against Fallen with shooting.

- Upper chosen fails charge into the Grudge Buster.
- Rest of the army keep pushing to support.
- Nothing happends in magic.

- Upper middle chosen charge Greybeards, lining up a overrun into the next unit taking 1W from SnS.
- Fallen charge the next unit, to hopefully get 2 combat rounds with the Chosen, they fail.
- Lower middle Chosen charge greybeards chaffing them taking 1W on SnS.
- Lower Chosen turn around to take care of miners
- Shrine turn around to face incoming miners.
- Warriors and BSB block push forward since they got out of the water last turn.
- Magic: 8-5: BTS goes off on Greybeards chaffing Chosen with Overwhelming power and loses me the spell.
- Combat: Grudge Buster takes 1W from the lone Chosen before killing him.
- Fallen kills off the cannon and overruns off the table.
- Lower middle chosen only do 4W against thei chaffing Greybeards… They take 2W in return and break the GB running them down. Unfortunately exposing their flank to a Grudge Buster.
- Upper chosen does 4W with the 24 attacks on 2+/4+… Great day for a dice game! They break the Greybeards, run them down and into the flank of the next Greybeards unit.

- Chosen break Greybeards and send them running off the table.

- Warriors charge the flank of Grudge Buster engaged in the rear of the Chosen
- Chosen turn around moving to get back to the objective
- Grudge does 1W with Impact hits on the Chosen before it is killed by the Harbinger and Warriors. They turn around to get back to the objective to draw it atleast.
- Miners finish of the Shrine.

- I’m just blocked off from charging the harbinger out of the unit and into the flank of the miners running for the scenario. I decide that a 6+ charge with the chosen and a following 5” ish overrun will get me the exact same result and also win me the objective. Chosen fail their 6+ charge ofc…
- Copter do 2W on SnS against the block..
- Lower Chosen charge miners to clear them out
- Lower Chosen do 9W vs miners and suffer 1W in return, this was more statistically correct! Both units run of the table.
- Harbinger and warriors only do 4W against the copters, break them but can’t run them down getting me nothing… with the miners passing the panic test.

END GAME

Conclusion:

I’ve lost scenario mainly due to the chosen guys unable to do a 6+ charge in my T6. Not quite sure if the T5 charge with the Warriors into the Buster was a wise chose either regarding scenario and final result.

I’ve lost 3200p including General while I’ve taken 2300p. This totals out to a 4-16 loss for my part.

- Losing the DP in T1 is a major problem. I basically played 3400p vs 4500p in 5/6 turns. Not much I could have changed as there was nothing to hide behind either with my quite short range spells requiring LoS.
- The face that I couldn’t roll a single 4++ most of the game was an issue, but this is a dice game after all. Totally this was a spike down dice wise looking at poor saved and poor results from Chosen in combat which should have wiped the floor with anything they contacted of infantry.
- I lost 3p from objective. Had the Chosen got in I would most likely have won the objective resulting in a 10-10 result instead
- I pushed hard, but was a bit on lockdown with the warrior block unable to march the first 2 turns of the game. I do believe this was the right chose as opposed to splitting up my army even more giving Kalle room to focus on single units with shooting.
- The FW running off the table was huge. When they never could shoot on short range, they are quite uneffective.

This game proved that the list can perform just as good without magic from a caster. I will run a 2-3 Demonic Steed characters in my next iteration, relying on BTS from Battleshrines and Ring of Fire for my 3 spells. These characters will benefit from the Hard Target, they are not Towering Presence ref. cannon shooting and they are just as good or better fighters as the DP at half the price tag.

I’m also considering running Chosen of Lust with Halberds just to have the lovely M7 to rush my opponents.
