[Infinity] Scenarios and special rules

Post by Coleslaw » Wed Feb 27, 2013 10:44 am

I plan on using this thread to gather/show our scenarios and scenario special rules.

I have a version on google drive https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NOt ... sp=sharing so that I have a living document if this thread becomes to old to edit/unstructured...

Please post comment and questions, and your own scenarios. Nothing is fixed, some things may have to be explained/clarified and some scenarios may be unbalanced. Lets make them better together :)!

General scenario special rules
Here I plan to gather some more common special rules that may be reused in scenarios.

Escorting/bodyguard
To be able to escort, the controller must synchronize the civilian. When moving the synchronized civilian, he must end every movement in BTB with the controller. As the controller is trying to protect the civilian you don’t get any minus when trying to shoot the controller, but if you fail a ranged attack targeting the controller with 1-3 points (even if you failed a FTF-roll) you have to resolve a hit against the civilian. So you may have a situation where an attacker targets the controller, the controller wins the FTF roll and kills the attacker but the civilian is still hit and killed as the attacker missed his roll with 2.
If you try to shoot the civilian, it counts as if he is in close combat with the controller, so you receive -6 to hit and have a chance to hit the controller anyway (see rules book p 144).

Specialists
When an engineer, hacker, forward observer or doctor is needed to do something to complete an objective, you may always try to do the action with another specialist instead. But you receive a hefty -6 modifier to show that experience counts (but if the roll has a default difficulty the total modifier will never be more then -9 together)...
Your lieutenant, Engineers, Hackers, Forward Observers, Doctors or and models with the Chain Of Command skill are specialists.
You may also design one of your other models as a specialist, but then you must identify the model as a specialist to the opponent when you deploy it. You must deploy this model on the table in the Deployment phase and it may not be deployed as a marker.

Our turf, our rules
The chosen side automatically wins both Deployment and Initiative.

Main forces en route
The chosen side has more forces on the way, so victory is assured. This side is immune to Retreat.

Secure the crash site
(Advanced scenario)

Super 6-1 is hit, 6-1 is going down.

Briefings

Defender
A transport containing a newly liberated scientist from the opponents side has been shot down and crashed. In hostile territory... Some of the liberators survived the crash and has secured the crash site and the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) is on it’s way. Secure the wreck, retrieve the scientist and make sure no evidence is left.

Attacker
The opponents forces has kidnapped one of our most valuable scientists but we managed to damage the extraction shuttle and it has crashed. The QRF must handle this, but main forces are on their way. Secure the wreck and retrieve the scientist. If everything goes to hell, make sure the opponent don’t get the scientist...

Mission Objectives

Defender
  • Stabilize the scientist: The scientist was injured in the crash and must be stabilized as fast as possible. Stabilize him with the Doctor skill or an automedic-kit in turn 1 or 2, else he dies. A failed roll has no negative effect in this case. He can not be retrieved before he is stabilized. (1 objective point)
  • Cut him free: The scientist is stuck in the wreck and must be cut loose before he can be retrieved. An engineer in BTB with the scientist must succeed in a PH-roll to cut him free. (1 objective point)
  • Retrieve the scientist: The scientist must be synced and escorted to your deployment zone. You get the point if the scientist is escorted by your troops and in your deployment zone when the game ends. (2 objective points)
  • Blow up the wreck: Destroy data logs and communication codes. Apply a D-Charge to the wreck with a WIP -roll and then detonate the charge OR hack the wreck (BTS -3). Can not be done before either side has retrieved the scientist. (1 objective point)
  • You may not target the scientist: If you kill the scientist your maximum objective points for this scenario is 1.
Attacker
(2 objective points) OR
  • Make sure the opponent don’t get the scientist: Kill the scientist. If you do this you may not get points for Retrieve the scientist. (1 objective point)
  • Gather evidence: Hack the wreck (BTS -6) to retrieve the data logs and communication codes.(1 objective point)
Forces

Defender
QRF: X points (Recommended to include is Medic and Engineer)
Liberators: +20% of X. Separate combat group. May not contain specialists.

Attacker
QRF: X points (Recommended to include is Medic, Engineer and Hacker)

Deployment

Defender
QRF: 6 inches deep deployment zone. May not deploy anything within 12” of the center of the table.
Liberators: Within 12” from the center of the table. No infiltration.

Attacker
QRF: Standard, except may not deploy anything within 12” of the center of the table.

Turn Limit
4 game turns. Then the attackers main force arrives and it's game over.

Game table
48” deep.
Place a wreck and a model (the scientist) in the center of the table. Decide where you have to be to be in "BTB" with the scientist if unclear, depending on the wreck.

Scenario Special Rules

The Scientist
Standard civilian profile. To injured/shocked to make any resistance so he counts as friendly to both sides.

Escorting/bodyguard
See general special rules.

Specialists
See general special rules.

Main forces en route
The attacker knows he has got more forces on the way, so victory is assured. The attacker is immune to Retreat.
