Warmachine & Hordes NM 2017

Post by Olannon » Wed Sep 14, 2016 9:45 pm

Hello everyone! We are pleased to finally be able to announce the program for Warmachine & Hordes at NM2017! For the first time, Warmachine & Hordes at NM will be a multi-tournament event and we are eager to try this new format. Please note our policy on possibly upcoming rules changes for NM2017 which you can read here.

What does a multi-tournament format mean? For those of you who are used to going to cons this is basically nothing new. For those of you who are not, it means that we are running multiple tournaments in parallell. Due to the nature of how we crown a winner in this game according to Steamroller, you'll often see players losing motivation and dropping if they get off to a bad start. As such we have a tournament starting after the first and after the second round of NM. Hopefully this also enables others who might not be able to attend the entire weekend to at least participate in some of the events.

Furthermore this format allows us to offer you a variety of formats, ranging from the classic Masters format for the title of Norwegian Master to the more casual Spell Draft. Perhaps a team tournament is what you're looking for? We've tried to have something for everyone here!
As a final note, the schedule is not 100% yet. Expect Saturday to be a very long day if you want to play all games and Sunday to last for roughly 8 hours.

Okay, onto the format!

Day 1:

Norwegian Masters Dyad 75p. 5 rounds, 64 spots. If there are 2 undefeated players after 5 rounds, there will be a finale. 4 Invitational spots. Masters rules (includes ADR).
Champions 2 lists 75p. 4 rounds, 32 spots. Starts after NM Round 1 is over. If there are 2 undefeated players after 4 rounds we will do our best to hold a finale. 2 Invitational spots. Champions format.
Steamroller 1 2 lists 75p. 3 rounds, 16 spots. Starts after NM Round 2 is over. If there are 2 undefeated players after 3 rounds we will do our best to hold a finale. 2 Invitational spots. Normal Steamroller format, no ADR.

Day 2:

Norwegian Invitationals 2 lists 75p. The top 4 players from Norwegian Masters, the top 2 players from Champions and the top 2 players from Steamroller 1 are eligibible to play here. If they decline to do so the spots go to the next player from the respective tournaments. 3 rounds. Normal Steamroller format, no ADR.
Steamroller 2 2 lists ADR 75p. 3 rounds, 16 spots.
Steamroller 3 2 lists ADR 75p. 3 rounds, 16 spots.
Team Tournament 75p. 3 rounds, 3 members per team. Max. 8 teams. 1 list per player.

As the astute reader will note, we cannot guarantee a winner by being the sole undefeated player in some of these events. This is due to schedule restrictions and we hope you can understand this and that it will not be an issue for you.

Painting Requirements

For all of the tournaments we require painted models. Technically the requirement is to have at least 3 colours on every model and the models need to be based. The 3 colours requirement does not mean you can take a metal model and paint 3 dots on him. Be reasonable.

Signing up for NM is done by Paypal. The price is 350 NOK (roughly €40) and you can find the info here: http://www.oslowargames.no/?p=237

By default, you are signed up for Norwegian Masters. If you instead wish to sign up for any of the other events on day 1 and skip the Norwegian Masters tournament, post in this thread with your preferred event. First come, first serve! Likewise, please write in this thread which event you prefer to play in on Sunday. You can also contact us by mail: jarle.svendsrud@outlook.com or endre.fodstad@gmail.com if you find that easier. The rest of the spots can be signed up for on the event itself. Remember to write your name!

Please note that you will need to pay to be signed up for NM! The tournament preferences written as replies to this thread are only valid once your payment has been received.

Some pirates achieved immortality by great deeds of cruelty or derring-do. Some achieved immortality by amassing great wealth. But the captain had long ago decided that he would, on the whole, prefer to achieve immortality by not dying.

Jarle/Endre, her må vi gjøre noen forandinger.
